After a strong winter sports season for Penn State Behrend, the Lions remain in the lead for the AMCC Presidents Cup title.
On Day 3 of D3 Week, we salute our AMCC Team Peak Performers of 2023-24.
The Penn State Behrend women's indoor track & field team had one individual champion, one relay team champion, and nine silver medalists to lead to its first ever United East Indoor Women's Track & Field Championship.
The United East Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet will take place on Monday, February 26 with the AMCC sending three member schools to participate as affiliates. Alfred State College, Carlow University, and Penn State Behrend will all travel to Prince George's County Sports and Learning Complex (Landover, MD) for the 2024 champioship meet.
Taylor's first place leap of 10.42 meters in triple jump was a personal best for the first-year athlete, while she also landed a personal best 4.72 meters in long jump to place third in the event at the Muskingum University Muskie Meet.
Wagner led the way for the Celtics with three first place finishes in the 60 (8.03), 200 (26.88) and as part of the 4x400 relay team that included Ella Cloak, Christina Smith and Laci Schwirian. The relay team finished with a time of 4:38.03.
Smith landed a third place spot in high jump with a leap of 1.48 meters and placed 15th in long jump. She also ran the final leg of the 4x400 relay team that took first place as Carlow placed 5th of 10 teams at the Baldwin Wallace Mid-February Meet Friday.
Wagner came in first in the 200 with a time of 27.18 and was also part of the first place 4x400 relay team who raced to a 4:41.26 finish as Carlow placed 5th of 10 teams at the Baldwin Wallace Mid-February Meet Friday.
Long scored a distance of 35-4 ½ for a ninth-place finish in the triple jump at the Jud Logan "Light Giver" Open.
Kraynik finished the 600m dash in a time of 1:42.56 for third place, Kraynik moved into second all-time with that finish.
Kappeler placed sixth in the pole vault with a height of 10-5 ½. She was also a member of the 4x2 relay team notched a second-place finish with a time of 1:52.56.
Wagner earned another top-10 spot with a sixth place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.14. She ran 8.13 in the preliminaries and finished 14th in the 200 with a time of 27.45. The 4x200 relay team, which Wagner was a part of, placed fourth with a time of 1:56.18.
Smith secured a first place finish in high jump with a leap of 1.50 meters, while also coming in fourth in triple jump and seventh in long jump. The Celtics tallied 13 top-10 finishes on the day and placed fifth out of 10 teams at the Muskingum University Muskie Meet #2 on Saturday.
Wagner placed second in the 200 with a time of 27.61 and was also part of the 4x200 relay team that scored the third best time in the Carlow record books with a second place finish of 1:53.73. The Celtics tallied 13 top-10 finishes on the day and placed fifth out of 10 teams at the Muskingum University Muskie Meet #2 on Saturday.
Long jumped 36-10 ¼ to break the school record, qualify for AARTFC, and score a victory in the event Saturday afternoon. She broke the Behrend indoor record of 36-9 that was previously set in 2006.
